Inspired by the family gatherings of his childhood on the beaches of Guadeloupe, David Jourquin decided to revive the luscious and cheerful feelings he had when he would dance around the bonfire tickled by the scent of juicy lemons, burning wood and the night foam of the waves lapping at the shore.
The first olfactory visit on this summer vacation is called Cuir Caraïbes. The journey begins on the perfumer’s homeland, amidst the farmer’s market stands where he discovered as a young boy the magic of spices with his father. The adventure continues on the beaches of Cuba, Guadeloupe, Saint-Barth’s and Marie Galante, when sun bursts into flame as it dips gloriously beyond the horizon, the moment when the crystal blue sea grows dark, revealing its turbulent immensity.
A bright-colored fisherman’s boat slides onto the white sand as if in a dream, entertaining the macaw perched nearby. The reflection of an amber-eyed woman slicing limes dances in a glass of spicy rum. The sweet, icy Mojito instantly freezes the air rendering the moment eternal. Subtle notes of tonka beans, bananas and star fruit take flight. A storm rolls in like a flash of lightning drenching the beach party in a swirl of wild sensations.
